This unit has 18 full
time social workers who carry very heavy responsibilities. All are
busily engaged in surveys in slums, paying school fees for those being
educated through the sponsorship programmes, free wheelchair
distribution to crippled people, distribution to fortnightly rations
for over 600 poor families, including milk powder, leprosy
rehabilitation and rural development programmes in villages on the
border of Andra Pradesh and Kasur in Mysore state. They rehabilitate
families living on the street, pay rents for poor people and direct the
poor and needy for medical treatment.
