Leprosy Rehabilitation Center

This project is meeting a real need. We have a lot of lepers coming to our ministry in CMCT. We have also adopted Alampakkam, a Leprosy colony, 1½ hours from Chennai, where our staff go thrice a week. We have a ration distribution for them once a month and our medical staff go regularly and help in training the lepers how to care for their feet and hands to avoid further ulcers. Physiotherapy treatment is also given for many patients. In Alampakkam Leprosy Colony there are approximately 130 families. We distribute free wheel chairs when needed. We have provided goats to many of the families to help them earn a living. We are seeking to counsel the families and advise them to stop begging. We have started self-help employment schemes and a Sewing Center. We have a Tuition Centre in the evenings and have appointed two teachers for taking tuition for all school going children.
