Training is given in embroidery, cross-stitch, tailoring,
bead making, doll making, patch work and machine work, and the girls also make
beautiful cross-stitch greeting cards and embroidery cards. Hand painted cards
are made by the Art Section along with handcrafted cards. The selection is
delightful. We have a high standard and all the girls are trained to do
excellent work. Many of the ladies who come to us have not had previous
training. After an 18 month course, the ladies sit an exam and they are awarded
a certificate. We also offer work to the trained girls and they are placed in
the department of their preference. This beautiful handicraft is now sold in
many countries all over the world. This helps us to pay a salary each month,
helping each of the women to live and feed their families. We have produced many
catalogues showing the different items that are being produced. These catalogues
are available on request.
We seek to find sponsors to help educate the children of those who are married.
We want to uplift the family and ultimately educating the children is going to
be a great encouragement. We need to sell the handicraft that is made to enable
us to give employment to the Handicraft Centre. We are always looking for new
people to come forward to help us in selling the handicraft.
In our Art Section, we have four men working. All are from poverty, but all are
very talented and their artwork is excellent. They also do textile printing and
we now produce beautiful Tea towels, etc..
