For this we have been able to rent four buildings in four different slum areas of the city. The areas are Chintradripet, Mackies Garden, Chetpet and Washermanpet. As we look around in the different areas, we come across desperate people who come to us pleading for help and we have proved that giving a hot meal in different areas to these people and bringing them together is something that is helping them to improve in their health and also to give them some hope and joy in life. These soup kitchens are conducted every day, Monday to Saturday. We have staff who go to each of the soup kitchens, and help to cook and serve the meal to those who are attending. In each of the soup kitchens we have approximately 50 people. For all of them, it is the only meal they will have in the day. We arrange programs for them and counsel them and it is rewarding to see their gratitude and their changed outlook on life. Providing this meal for destitute, poor, hungry people brings the greatest blessing to those of us who are involved. Many of these people are despised by their family and if we did not give this meal, they would only have one cup of coffee in a day with a stale bun.
