This is a government recognized school and a free school for the poorest of the poor. Most of the children live in the slums. This school was started in 1990, for many children living in the slums with no opportunity to go to school. In the Bethany School, we have approximately 1200 children. We have 42 government trained teachers. Because of the poverty of these children, we give a free mid-day meal and provide the children with school uniforms, school bags, shoes and socks, and text and exercise books. We are overjoyed when we see the tremendous changes taking place in each one of their lives, and in seeing them excel in education.

We have Boys Scouts, Girls Guides and Bulbuls. The children are trained in music, and to sing in a choir. (We have an excellent school band), dance and dramatics. We do not receive any government aid. We look to God in faith to provide. We try to get sponsors for all the children, which enables us to provide for the needs of the children. We have a School Board and we praise God for children doing 10th and 12th standard government exams. So many are doing well, and so far we have had 83% Passes.
 

This educational center is meeting a real need for school children that have failed in their education for school children that have failed in their education in 8th, 10th or 12th STD. Because of their poverty many cannot continue education so we offer such children free education. This enables all those children who come to us to be able to pass 8th, 10th or 12th STD. This is conducted in a school class room atmosphere with fully trained teachers. Some come to us who have never been to school. We teach them to read and write and do Open University exams.
